November 25, 2009 Reflection on John 16:20-22
Our Lord Jesus here in this passage uses the example of a woman giving birth to illustrate the sorrow at His death that will turn to joy at His resurrection.
We don’t know how man would have come into the world if it were not for the sin of Adam and Eve. Thus the process of a painful birth may not have been, as pronounced by God’s decree in Genesis, if there has been no sin at their hands. The birth process, originally, may not have been such a painful, straining and traumatic (physically) event. It may not have been such a dangerous (medically) event, i.e. infections, physical trauma, physiological stress, etc.
But even though the birthing process can be such a travail, it (typically) ends in joy because a lovely, new, innocent living child is brought into the world whereby it is a joy and a time of celebration—celebrating new life!
Thus, every time a child is born it is a picture of the sorrow-turned-joy of Christ’s death and resurrection. It is a reminder that happens thousands and even millions of times a day. The sorrow comes first, the pain, the tears. But then we realize the joy of new life and the promise that He will wipe away all of our tears. And one day we who know Him as Saviour will be with Him where there can be no more tears!
Friend, do you know Jesus as your Saviour? If you are in the midst of travail of one kind or another, you can have the joy that comes with abiding in Him and He abiding in you. If you want to know how you can have eternal life with NO MORE tears, just click here where you can learn how to turn to Him and receive Him.

November 26, 2009 Reflection upon awaking this morning
He For Whom I Wait
Psalm 27:14: Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
I John 4:13: Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
Revelation 21:5-7: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
The Lord gave me five words in my mind before I finished waking up this morning: He For Whom I Wait. And before I could develop that thought too far, He gave me two more words to explain it: In Us. Now there were seven words in a certain order for me to ponder and digest in the context of thinking on Him.
I face each day with the hope, that Blessed Hope, that one day I will see my Master as He is and that, from my perspective, He tarries so long in His coming. Sometimes this is in the context of prophecy, sometimes in the context of a prayer for which I eagerly await an answer. But my comfort does not lie in that “I hope” something will happen, it lies in that “Hope” that already is. What this means is that this “Hope” is already finished, it accomplished. It is extant from the foundation of the world. Before I came into being this Hope was already accomplished, independent of my thoughts, hopes, dreams and beliefs.
You see, the Hope that I have is not an event or a thing, it is a Person. It is Him for Whom I wait, Him in Whom I hope. He, Christ Jesus, Yeshua haMaschiach, Who is my Hope. Because of His salvation that He freely gave me, that Hope is not an aspiration, it is an accomplishment. I don’t feel this, I know it. He is not interested in that I feel saved or that I feel that I have a hope. He wants me to know it.
1 John 5:13: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
How do I know? Because He put His Spirit in me. I know through Him and by Him. I cannot deny Him for He lives in me. He is in me. He is in us that are His. His Spirit in me is the earnest (the deposit) that assures me of the inheritance. I don’t have to wait to know. I know Him and He knows me.
He for Whom I wait is my Saviour. He is my Lord and my God. He loves me. He is coming back for me. He promised me. He has already prevailed. He has won the victory. He is the Heir to all things. I am a joint-heir with Him. He foreknew me. He forgave me. He forgave me! I now belong to Him: He for Whom I wait.

December 2, 2009 A Reflection on Psalm 23
1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
This same peace, this same lack of fear, this same stillness and this same goodness and mercy that Thou hast bestowed upon this great king of Israel, David, a man that Thou hast described as a man after Thine own heart– these same blessings Thou hast given to me.
I Thank Thee.
From everlasting to everlasting Thou art God.

December 11, 2009 Reflection on God’s Foolishness and Weakness
I Corinthians 1:25-29 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
The “foolishness of God” - There is no such thing. Paul here (in his classic pseudo- sarcastic tone) is saying that this “foolishness” as MEN (or the WORLD) see it, is all this “God” business. Because the world sees the belief and trust in God to be foolishness.
But with this very “foolishness” God has chosen to confound the wise (v. 27).
The “weakness of God” - There is none. It is the WORLD that sees the belief and trust in God as weakness.
Again, it is with this very “weakness” that God has chosen to confound the mighty.
It is when we are at the most simple and “childlike” point in our faith that we are made wise by the instruction of God. And it is when we are at our weakest point that God’s strength is made perfect in us!

Mustard Seed vs. Mountain
...for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew 17:20
Our Lord Jesus said if we had faith as a mustard seed we could move a mountain. Was that figurative or literal? It was BOTH. There will always be figurative mountains to move in our lives. But there may come a time when an actual mountain might need to be moved. Now this act of moving a mountain will not happen simply for a sign, or for our amusement. It will come to pass only if necessary to fulfill God’s will.
Why wouldn’t we be able to move a mountain, if it were necessary to fulfill God’s will, with faith, if a man once stopped a STAR with faith?
See Joshua 10:12-14
“Then spake Joshua to the LORD…”
What faith was this? It is the same faith that is available to us today—for it is the faith of the LORD! It is the same faith because it is the same LORD– Jesus Christ– He Who stopped the sun tells us that He can move mountains. Why? Because it is His faith (Hebrews 12:2) and He gives it to us as a GIFT (Ephesians 2:8)!
